As the Riviera sun dips below the horizon and the Monegasque sky twinkles into life, a beloved summer tradition awakens. The Monaco Open Air Cinema has once again unfurled its colossal screen, inviting cinephiles to indulge in a season of starlit enchantment. With a thrilling lineup of blockbusters, elevated comforts, and refreshing libations at the ready, the 2025 season promises to be a runaway hit.

The riviera’s grandest outdoor screen

Perched majestically atop the Parking des Pêcheurs, Monaco’s iconic Open Air Cinema swung open its gates last Friday. Despite the sizzling Riviera heat, the dedicated team behind the scenes ensured a flawless return. This celebrated venue, home to Europe’s largest suspended outdoor screen (a staggering 220 square meters!), boasts an immersive experience with Dolby 7.1 sound and newly enhanced seating. Adding to the allure, a refreshed bar now serves up craft cocktails from local start-up Mixt Drinks. With seating for 500 and a cozy lounge corner, this cinema continues to deliver one of the most atmospheric film nights along the coast.

A stellar lineup awaits

Get ready for an electrifying cinematic journey! This season’s highlights include the highly anticipated F1: The Movie starring Brad Pitt, Marvel’s exciting reboot The Fantastic Four: First Steps, the prehistoric adventure Jurassic World: Rebirth, the heroic Superhman, and the action-packed Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning. Families will delight in animated favorites like Lilo & Stitch, Smurfs, and How to Train Your Dragon. For those seeking romance and drama, Materialists, featuring Dakota Johnson, is a must-see.

All films are screened nightly in their original version with French subtitles, with the main feature starting at 10 PM, following a 9:30 PM showtime.

Enhanced comforts and enduring charm

While the magic remains, the experience has been subtly elevated. Ticket prices for standard seats remain at €12, and the luxurious premium black sofas at €23. However, a slight adjustment in snack prices (popcorn, sweets) reflects rising supplier costs. Behind the scenes, significant upgrades have been made: the wooden viewing platform has been rebuilt for ultimate comfort, several sofas replaced, and a third sales counter added to ensure smoother queues. These thoughtful tweaks, combined with the venue’s inherent charm, guarantee a seamless and enjoyable cinematic escape.

In keeping with cherished tradition, the Monaco Open Air Cinema foregoes online booking in favor of paper tickets on the night. This deliberate choice underscores the team’s commitment to offering a personal, laid-back experience, a refreshing contrast to the digital bustle of modern entertainment. Leashed dogs are, as always, warmly welcomed, and the expanded bar and snack menu now features everything from hearty cheeseburgers to decadent brownies.

With its breathtaking Mediterranean vistas and a relaxed Riviera ambiance, Monaco’s open-air cinema once again proves that summer is best savored under a canopy of stars, with the silver screen aglow and a cool drink in hand. Ready to escape into the magic?
