Get ready for a glimpse into the future of luxury and sustainability at the Monaco Yacht Show 2025! Making its highly anticipated appearance at D02 with Feadship, the 118.8-meter Feadship superyacht Breakthrough isn’t just another vessel – she’s a groundbreaking marvel, launched in 2024 under the project name Feadship 821. Not only is she the largest yacht ever built by the esteemed Dutch shipyard, but she also holds the prestigious title of the world’s first hydrogen fuel-cell superyacht.
Pioneering green power at sea
Breakthrough truly lives up to her name as the first Feadship yacht to be powered by a pure green hydrogen fuel source. This monumental achievement is a direct result of Feadship’s unwavering commitment to developing “net zero” yachts by 2030. Just last month, she made waves again, becoming the first vessel to successfully receive liquid hydrogen bunkering in the Netherlands – a significant milestone for sustainable yachting.
Unrivaled luxury and ingenious design
With stunning interior and exterior design by the acclaimed RWD, and owner’s representation by Edmiston, Breakthrough redefines opulence and comfort. She can graciously accommodate up to 30 guests across 15 staterooms, along with a dedicated crew of up to 43, ensuring an unparalleled level of service and privacy.
The owner’s private oasis
Perched above the bridge, the owner’s deck is a sanctuary of indulgence. It features two exquisite staterooms, twin dressing rooms and bathrooms, a state-of-the-art gym, a convenient pantry, and two offices, each complete with a cozy fireplace. A spacious saloon provides the perfect setting for relaxation or entertaining.
A unique and completely private vertical corridor connects this opulent haven to the lower deck. This stunning feature boasts a grand staircase lined with elegant bookshelves and display nooks, alongside a private owner’s elevator.
Exceptional amenities throughout
Breakthrough is replete with thoughtful and luxurious touches throughout. Enjoy a morning coffee or an evening game at the dedicated coffee corner and games niche on the bridge deck. Delve into literary adventures in the main deck’s refined library. For an intimate dining experience, the lower deck offers a private dining room with a breathtaking sea terrace and an adjacent ensuite stateroom.
The ultimate beach club experience
The aft of the vessel is dominated by a grand beach club, featuring sweeping companionways that lead down to an expansive swim platform. From the main deck, guests can admire a large glass infinity pool, flanked by ample alfresco dining space – ideal for sun-drenched gatherings and unforgettable meals.
Powering the future of yachting
While Breakthrough’s liquid hydrogen capacity doesn’t allow for a full ocean crossing on this pure fuel, it can generate enough electricity to comfortably serve her entire hotel load. For longer voyages, or when pure hydrogen isn’t readily available, the 3,200 kW ABB pod drives are powered by MTU generators running on HVO (Hydro-treated vegetable oil).
Breakthrough’s energy storage is a testament to efficiency, holding a mere 543 kW hours. Yet, this modest capacity allows her cutting-edge fuel cell technology to provide an entire week’s worth of silent operation at anchor or emission-free navigation at 10 knots. She truly is a Breakthrough in sustainable luxury.
