The Larvotto Promenade in Monaco has been transformed into an open-air gallery, proudly hosting the 2025 Environmental Photography Award exhibition! Organized by the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, this inspiring event isn’t just a celebration of art; it’s a powerful call to action, proving that photography can be a potent weapon in the fight for our planet.
The grand opening Monaco photo exhibition brought together the crème de la crème of global photography, conservation experts, and art enthusiasts. The event was particularly graced by the presence of His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco, whose attendance underscored the significance of this initiative.
The evening’s star was Angel Fitor, this year’s triumphant winner, whose outstanding work in environmental storytelling captivated all present. Fitor’s photographs aren’t merely beautiful; they’re an alarm, capturing urgent ecological issues and transmitting them directly to the viewer’s soul. His lens serves as a mirror, showing us the fragility of our world.

A stellar jury and compelling narratives
Among the distinguished jury members who honored the opening were renowned naturalist photographer Emanuele Biggi, photojournalist Aaron Gekoski, editor Tom Gilks, and underwater specialist Ralph Pace. The jury was chaired by the legendary National Geographic photographer and filmmaker Ami Vitale, with Arctic biologist and photographer Audun Rikardsen also on the panel. Their expertise and passion ensured that the selected photographs truly reflected the highest quality and the deepest message.
This exhibition is a true mosaic of captivating visual narratives, submitted by both professional and amateur photographers, all united in their mission to shed light on the fragile state of our planet. Their works are more than just pictures; they’re a call to awaken public consciousness and encourage concrete steps towards preserving our natural world. Each photograph serves as a powerful reminder that beauty is worth fighting for.
Acknowledging dedication and art’s vital role
Special recognition was given to contest chairman Sergio Pitamitz for his tireless support and guidance throughout the entire process. Thanks to the continued backing of UISEK, the 2025 edition of the FPA2 Environmental Photography Award once again affirmed the Foundation’s belief in the vital role art can play in addressing the climate and biodiversity crises.
