From September 10th to 13th, the Principality of Monaco will once again celebrate its rich maritime heritage. The 17th edition of the Monaco Classic Week – La Belle Classe will take place in the harbor, gathering a unique fleet of vessels. The event is organized by the Yacht Club de Monaco (YCM), and around 160 spectacular boats are expected to arrive.

The fleet

The event will feature a fleet of over 200 classic vessels, including 50 classic sailing yachts, 14 period motor-yachts, and 70 vintage powerboats. A highlight is an unprecedented gathering of 50 Riva powerboats, brought together in collaboration with Monaco Boat Service.

Iconic vessels and international participation

Among the sailing yachts, 24 are over a century old, with the 1885 Partridge celebrating her 140th anniversary. Other iconic ships include Sky (1890), Tuiga (1909), and Mariette of 1915. The event’s strong international flavor is evident with a delegation from the Manhattan Yacht Club and a Saudi delegation from the Amaala Yacht Club joining the races.

The rich heritage of motorboating will also be on display, with a fleet of 1950s mahogany runabouts like Chris Craft and Riva, alongside 15 meticulously restored motor-yachts.

A fusion of art, cinema, and the sea

This year, the event also merges with the worlds of art and cinema. The “Action! Classic Yachts on the Big Screen” exhibition explores the connection between film and the sea, featuring famous vessels like Kalizma (owned by Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor) and Errol Flynn’s Zaca. The legendary Riva boats, which have also starred in numerous films, will be featured prominently.

In a separate exhibition, renowned marine photographer Kos Evans will present her “Rock & Royals” series, a collection of unique works created on old sailcloth.

Lifestyle and awards

Beyond the regattas and exhibitions, the event embraces a luxurious lifestyle with culinary competitions and an Elegance Contest. The prestigious Monaco Classic Week Trophy will be awarded by a Grand Jury led by legendary sailor Sir Robin Knox-Johnston.

This event stands out for the variety of vessels participating, from vintage sailing yachts to motorboats and classic speedboats. Monaco Classic Week – La Belle Classe has become one of the most recognizable gatherings of its kind, attracting sea and classic boat enthusiasts from around the globe. It is a true celebration of the beauty, elegance, and engineering of maritime history, offering visitors and participants the opportunity to enjoy the sight of preserved boats that are witnesses to a bygone era.
