Monaco is once again leading the way in accessibility, proudly announcing the opening of the Larvotto Handiplage for the 2025 summer season. This year marks a significant milestone – two decades of dedicated inclusive beach access within the Principality, solidifying Monaco’s unwavering commitment to ensuring its beautiful coastline is enjoyed by all.

A sanctuary of summer fun for all abilities

Designed with the utmost care, the Larvotto Handiplage is a specially equipped haven for individuals with reduced mobility and disabilities. Operating throughout the summer until August 31st, this vital initiative is orchestrated by the Department of Social Welfare and Social Services, with invaluable support from the Soroptimist Club of Monaco. Their collaborative efforts ensure that everyone, whether they arrive with assistance or independently, can experience the joy of swimming at Larvotto in a secure and comfortable environment.

Extended hours and enhanced safety

Building on the success and positive feedback from last year’s trial, the Handiplage has extended its operating hours for the 2025 season. Visitors can now enjoy the facilities from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM on weekdays, and from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM on weekends and the public holiday of August 15th. These extended hours are carefully coordinated with the lifeguard service at Larvotto, guaranteeing optimal safety for all beachgoers.

Dedicated support and state-of-the-art facilities

A dedicated team of six trained staff members will be on hand to ensure a smooth and secure experience for everyone. Each member of the Handiplage team holds first aid certification, providing peace of mind for users and their families.

This year also sees exciting improvements to the site’s facilities. These include a new accessible shower, a specially designed seat for persons with reduced mobility, and additional adapted sun loungers. To further enhance comfort and accessibility in the water, two new tiralos (water-accessible wheelchairs) have been added, alongside life jackets, gel cushions, and a cooler to help beat the summer heat.

Monaco’s Larvotto Handiplage is more than just a beach; it’s a testament to the Principality’s ongoing dedication to inclusivity and a shining example of how commitment and innovation can create truly accessible public spaces for everyone to enjoy.
