Get ready for a captivating journey through history and heritage! On June 14 and 15, 2025, the majestic Place du Palais will host the 6th edition of the “Rencontre des Sites historiques Grimaldi de Monaco“. This unique event promises a weekend brimming with history, cultural identity, and festive camaraderie, bringing together communities from France and Italy with centuries-old ties to Monaco’s princely family.
Uniting a rich dynastic legacy
Initiated in 2018 by H.S.H. Prince Albert II, this remarkable gathering aims to celebrate and strengthen the enduring bonds between the Grimaldi dynasty and over 150 European municipalities. These deep connections, forged through centuries of dynastic, diplomatic, and matrimonial alliances, are evident in historic noble titles such as Duke of Valentinois, Marquis de Baux, Count of Carladès, and Baron of Hambye – a testament to the Grimaldis’ far-reaching influence.

This year Grimaldi historical sites gathering proudly welcomes delegates from a diverse array of towns, including Polignac, Lavoûte-sur-Loire, and Saint-Pal-de-Chalencon (Haute-Loire, France); Bardi and Compiano (Parma, Italy); Uzès (Gard, France); Ollioules (Var, France); and Villeneuve-Loubet (Alpes-Maritimes, France). Each delegation will transport a piece of their distinct culture to Monaco, showcasing regional products, vibrant folklore dances, traditional crafts, and fascinating historical narratives that illuminate their unique connections to the House of Grimaldi.
A weekend of festivities for all ages
With free admission, the Grimaldi historical sites gathering promises a rich and engaging program designed for the whole family. Visitors can look forward to a dynamic mix of cultural animations, delightful tastings, lively artistic performances, and hands-on educational workshops for children. Adding to the genuinely festive atmosphere will be horseback riding, spirited games of square boules (bocce quadrate), and the charming presence of farm animals.
More than just a popular festival, the “Rencontre des Sites historiques Grimaldi de Monaco” serves as a vital moment for rediscovering and honoring the shared roots that bind Monaco with numerous territories across the Mediterranean and the French hinterland. It’s an immersive step back in time, experienced within the breathtaking backdrop of the Prince’s Palace – a place where history doesn’t just reside, but continues to vibrant dialogue with the present.
