Experiencing art through every sense

In a powerful demonstration of its dedication to accessibility and inclusion, the Grimaldi Forum opens doors to all and recently welcomed a special group of individuals with disabilities for an enriching visit. This event, held on Monday, was made possible with the invaluable support of AMAPEI (Association Monégasque pour l’Aide et la Protection de l’Enfance Inadaptée) and is a key part of the “Culture and Inclusion” program. This inspiring initiative was jointly launched in 2023 by the Grimaldi Forum and its long-standing partner, CMB Monaco.

Around fifteen participants embarked on a captivating, guided exploration of the current exhibition, “Colours! Masterpieces from the Centre Pompidou.” Far from a traditional viewing, this experience was meticulously crafted to be both educational and sensory. Engaging interactive activities encouraged guests to delve into the emotional power of color. Attendees were invited to interpret colors through movement and expression, pondering questions like: “What emotion does this color evoke? How can you express it physically?” This unique approach transformed art appreciation into a dynamic and personal journey.

A legacy of welcoming: Past successes and future visions

This inclusive endeavor builds upon a foundation of successful initiatives since the “Culture and Inclusion” program’s inception. In 2023, during the acclaimed Monet in Full Light exhibition, children supported by the Les Enfants de Frankie association were warmly welcomed. The following year, during Turner’s Sublime Legacy, a group of children, teens, and young adults with autism enjoyed a special visit, in partnership with Monaco Disease Power, who are already scheduled for another visit, highlighting the program’s enduring impact.

The Grimaldi Forum remains steadfast in its commitment to making its exhibitions truly accessible to everyone. To further this mission, admission to “Colours!” is thoughtfully priced at 14 euros total for people with disabilities and their accompanying guests, underscoring the Forum’s unwavering dedication to democratizing art and culture.
