A ceremony steeped in tradition

On Monday, July 21, 2025, at 11:30 AM, the Principality of Monaco witnessed a significant event: His Excellency Mr. Christophe Mirmand, appointed as the new Minister of State by sovereign ordinance in July 2025, formally took his oath before His Serene Highness Prince Albert II. This ceremony, rich in long-standing tradition and symbolism, took place in the magnificent Prince’s Palace, the heart of Monegasque statehood.

The event brought together the highest officials of the Principality, underscoring its importance. In addition to Prince Albert II, Her Serene Highness Princess Charlene was also present, her attendance further lending significance to the act. Among the esteemed guests were the Secretary of State, Ms. Yvette Lambin Berti, members of the Government of Monaco, representatives of the Prince’s Cabinet, as well as Mr. Mirmand’s family – his wife and daughter – who proudly witnessed this historic moment.

The oath of office: A solemn commitment

The ceremony began with His Serene Highness the Prince reading the text of the oath. Every word spoken on this occasion resonated through the hall, a reminder of the responsibility and dedication that the new position entails. After the text was read, H.E. Mr. Mirmand, in accordance with protocol, raised his right hand and clearly pronounced the words: “I swear.” With this act, he officially committed himself to serving the Principality, its laws, and its people. Upon the completion of the oath-taking, Ms. Lambin Berti, the Secretary of State, read the official minutes of the ceremony, thereby formally documenting the event.


A new chapter for the Principality

The appointment and oath of H.E. Mr. Mirmand mark a new chapter in the administration of the Principality of Monaco. As Minister of State, he assumes a crucial role in leading state affairs and implementing policies under the guidance of His Serene Highness the Prince.
