In honor of the exceptional jubilee, the Centenary of the birth of His Serene Highness Prince Rainier III of Monaco, special souvenir albums titled “Back in Pictures” have been prepared. These two-part sets, elegantly presented in a specially designed case, represent a precious memento of the beloved Prince’s life and legacy. One album is dedicated to a detailed depiction of the historic day of May 31st, while the other comprehensively documents the numerous commemorative events and manifestations that took place throughout 2023 across the Principality.
This unique gift, an expression of respect and gratitude, is jointly presented to all Monegasque households by His Serene Highness Sovereign Prince Albert II and Her Serene Highness Princess Stéphanie, who also serves as the President of the Commemoration Committee. The goal of this initiative is to enable every citizen of Monaco to possess a piece of this historic celebration and preserve the memory of Prince Rainier III’s reign.
Details on album and accompanying item collection
The collection of these valuable sets will take place at the Monaco City Hall, organized in two clearly defined phases to ensure efficiency and accessibility for all citizens:
- Phase One: From Monday, June 2nd to Friday, June 13th (inclusive of both dates), collection will be possible from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The collection point will be Espace Léo Ferré, known for its spaciousness and suitability for organizing such events.
- Phase Two: Starting from Monday, June 16th, and continuing until supplies last, citizens will be able to collect the sets directly from the Monaco City Hall premises, specifically at the Civil Status – Nationality Department. Operating hours during this phase will be from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM.
It’s important to note that during the album distribution, and also until supplies last, commemorative items featuring “Centenary” motifs, such as flags and other souvenirs, will also be distributed, further enriching the remembrance of this significant jubilee.

Key conditions for set collection
To ensure fair distribution and prevent potential misuse, clear conditions for collection have been defined:
- One Set Per Household: It is strictly stipulated that only one album set will be issued per household, regardless of the number of members.
- Adulthood and ID Card: The person collecting the set on behalf of the household must be an adult and must possess a valid Monegasque identity card. This is a crucial document for identification and confirming the right to collect.
- Members of the Same Household: Young adults (aged between 18 and 29, inclusive), who are single but share the same address as their Monegasque parents, are considered part of the same household. Therefore, they will not be able to collect a separate set for themselves; instead, the set is collected for the entire household.
- Collection by a Third Party: In situations where an individual cannot personally collect their set, it is possible to authorize a third party. For this, a power of attorney written on plain paper, dated and signed by the person unable to attend, must be provided. Along with the power of attorney, a photocopy of the Monegasque identity card of the person who issued the power of attorney is mandatory, as well as the original identity document of the person authorized to collect the set.
Special provision for senior citizens of Monaco
Recognizing the needs and acknowledging the contributions of the Principality’s senior citizens, the Municipality of Monaco has provided a special distribution mechanism for Monegasque seniors. Those who already receive at least one home support service, provided by the Senior and Social Action Department of the Monaco City Hall, will not need to visit the designated collection points. Instead, staff from this department will personally deliver the album set to their home address. To ensure everyone is informed and prepared, an official notification regarding the delivery schedule will be sent to them in advance, eliminating the need for any travel or effort on their part.
